Platinum B-40SE v.2 Bookshelf Speaker

The second edition provides even better sound performance and unbeatable value to performance ratio much beyond its price level!

TAGA Harmony has once again raised the bar incorporating significant constructional changes which affected the sound performance. Now you will love the B-40 SE v.2 even more…

TLIE (Taga Low Interference Enclosure) - our beautifully handcrafted enclosure is now even more rigid and neutral to vibrations and colorization. We have increased MDF walls thickness from 15 mm to 18 mm.

The 3rd generation TPTTD-II (Taga Pure Titanium Tweeter Dome) utilizes a differently shaped and lighter titanium cone – it allows faster, more accurate movement of the dome reflecting in more detailed and airy sound.

The 2nd generation TWCD-I
(Taga Woolen Cone Driver) with different composition of cone materials - the cone is lighter so can move faster generating better defined, more dynamic and faster bass performance and more rich, spacious and sweet mids. The redesigned voice coil utilizing thicker and purer flat wire offers even higher power handling and longer operation time without increased temperature.

New configuration of the drivers: the tweeter is positioned closer to the mid-woofer than in the previous version to provide even better smoothness between high and mid frequencies.

The dramatically upgraded
crossover to meet new refinements and configuration of the drivers: more delicate and rich treble, better defined midranges and more dynamic bass.

The Platinum B-40 SE v.2 is available in an additional new luxurious finish: natural Real Wood African Walnut Veneer with high-end clear gloss piano lacquer.

The Platinum B-40 SE v.2 showcases all the qualities of dedication and love of music, groundbreaking developments in speaker design and technology which have inspired TAGA's designers and engineers.

The best hifi loudspeakers in Germany - yearbook 2018!

BEST of HiFi Test 2018 by “HiFi Test”, a German reputable audio magazine

EXCEPTIONAL, PREISTIPP (TOP CLASS)

Sound performance

“…Free in the room, with plenty of air to the limiting wall surfaces, the sound is getting off from the loudspeakers in a great way. The speakers are placed 2.5 meters from the listener. That presents itself as an ideal to be able to reproduce  singers and instruments plastically in the listening room. The sonorous voice of Chris Jones, supported by deep basses and sparkling guitars, fills the room and triggers a spontaneous enthusiasm. "Set 'em up, Joe" is an ideal sound test, because it is a difficult task for the speakers. The compact speakers mastered the test track with bravura. A warm timbre voice of Cassandra Wilson makes you get a goose bump one after the other. Her voice is wonderfully placed in the listening room, so we can listen to the much-heard test track for a second time. Since it is right here, we feed the CD player with the Dali test CD 4. Taga B-40 SE v.2 did not stumble over contradicting titles such as "Did Trouble Me" by Tom Jones, "Earth Drums" by He Xun-Tian and "Deeply Disturbed "by Infected Mushroom. They are playing freely and confidently through the test material, which has the great class. Finally, we treated ourselves to a classical "Brothers in Arms" from Dire Straits. The spatial presentation is outstanding, the voices and instruments are placed precisely in the space. All in all, the performance of the small Taga is outstanding and the B-40 SE v.2 can boast of being the best speaker in the TOP CLASS (stereo loudspeaker, compact class) at the moment."

Conclusion
“Those who are looking for a pair of elegant speakers with high quality workmanship and the best sound, and do not want to spend a fortune, the Platinum B-40 SE v.2 from Taga is inevitably what they will end up with. Here is what the Hi-Fi heart desires and the price remains below the magical 1000 Euro level - per pair, mind you!”

"At the beginning it is worth to mention about our testing room. It is quite a big (around 30sqm) room, partially acoustically treated. Why do we mention about that? Because the Platinum excellently managed to fill it with the sound…

We were much surprised by the effect we heard. The sound was saturated and dynamic, such an effect could be rather expected from much bigger constructions. Setting up the speakers is very convenient and does not require too much effort. The bassreflex port is located at the front and positioning of the speakers is not so much crucial like in case of speakers utilizing a rear-mounted port. It is important for audiophiles, who cannot place their Platinum in any position in the room…
All kind of "obstructions" in high registries are well perceptible, they have their place in the soundstage, there is no problem to distinguish which are placed closer and which further.
Mids are slightly withdrawn, but not dry. They contain a sufficient amount of material. They have their charm, they create a very nice aura and make that you can listen music for hours. For us it is a very big advantage, as we do like to spend a good amount of time with music :)

Voices sound natural, they are not colored…The speakers are able to present diversity of recorded material without losing anything of the dynamics…the bass is quick and punctual. We would call the whole performance as rather smooth sound, addressed to people who demand versatility from their speakers.

Overall rating
Taga Harmony continues to deliver products which from the quality and workmanship point of view without a problem can compete with more expensive products, what nowadays is a huge advantage. What’s more, combined with good sound, we get a complete product, with the company's sound style, which allows us to claim that the company's strategy is implemented consistently and as planned. The B-40es thanks to their sound, give us the opportunity to listen to music for hours without tiring our ears. In our opinion, this is a great advantage, because as previously mentioned, we love to listen to music for hours…"
