The aluminum spike supports to be placed under speaker / speaker stand spikes in order:
To provide extra stability for the speaker / stand.
To lower unwanted mechanical vibrations.
To better isolate the speaker / stand from the surface it is placed on.
To protect the surface from being scratched (a rubber pad mounted on the bottom of each spike support).
